Furniture / Bedding Plus: A New Orleans Fixture
In
one of the city's most historic neighborhoods,
a local family business sees the future of
New Orleans also reflected in its past.
For
more than 60 years, Doerr Furniture has remained
a vital resident
of the Faubourg Marigny, where a third generation
now runs an extensive showroom -that stretches
a city block deep - on Elysian Fields.
"We
wanted to invest in a larger warehouse facility
and we were able to find one a few blocks
away in the Marigny," says Doerr General
Manager David Mutter.
That community investment has also given Doerr
plenty of room to grow; and the family has
literally met that challenge "head on."
"
We opened Bedding Plus as the mattress division
of Doerr Furniture to better serve our customers
throughout the metro area," explains
Bedding Plus General Manager Gary Mutter.
With a fifth store in Covington, and more
locations on the way, Bedding Plus marks a
dynamic change for a company still committed
to its neighborhood roots, while never content
to simply "rest" on the past.
It's all part of the Challenge to Change.
