Caresse Jackman started her career as a general assignment reporter at WWL-TV Eyewitness News in August 2016.

The daughter of Guyanese immigrants, Caresse was born in Queens, New York and moved down to Atlanta, Georgia at a very early age.

Caresse graduated from the University of Georgia, where she received a dual degree in Broadcast News and International Affairs. After graduating from UGA, she started her broadcasting career in the Magnolia State, working behind the scenes as a news producer at WJTV in Jackson, Mississippi.

Three years later, Caresse left Jackson to begin her reporting career at WCBI News in Columbus, Mississippi. While at WCBI, Caresse covered a wide range of stories, including the April 2014 Tornado Outbreak. Caresse also won an award for Best Spot News by the Mississippi Associated Press during her time in Columbus.

Caresse then moved north, working as a general assignment reporter at WJRT, ABC 12 News in Flint, Michigan.

From 2014-2016, Caresse covered several news stories in the Mid-Michigan area, beginning her career at the station just as the Flint Water Crisis began to unravel. The extensive coverage from Caresse and the news team led them to receive an Edward R. Murrow Award for continuing coverage on Flint’s water emergency. In addition to the water crisis, Caresse also covered other stories that gained national attention, including visits from President Barack Obama, Presidential Candidate Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders and the 2016 Democratic Debate.

During her time in Mississippi, Caresse fell in love with Louisiana and the Crescent City. She was a frequent visitor and always called it a place she dreamed of living. It was so amazing, she had to come back!

Caresse is proud to call New Orleans home and to be a part of the WWL Eyewitness News team.

She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and the National Association of Black Journalists.

In her spare time, you can catch Caresse cheering for her Georgia Bulldogs, traveling, reading and spending time with her family and friends.
