Bicyclist robbed, nearly killed on Lafitte Greenway
NEW ORLEANS - A bicyclist is, perhaps, lucky to be alive after being the victim of an armed robbery on the Lafitte Greenway.
According to the New Orleans Police Department, around 5:30 p.m. Monday, three gunmen forced the 40-year-old male bicyclist to the ground on the greenway near the Broad Street crossing, robbed him, and tried to shoot him. Police said the gun misfired.
One of the men searched the victim's pockets and took about $200. After the robbery, one man pointed a gun at the victim on the ground and pulled the trigger but the gun misfired. The robbers then fled, police said.
The robbers are believed to be in their 20s-30s with slim to medium builds, wearing tee shirts and dark pants or jeans.
