SLIDELL – A Slidell fireman’s pickup truck was stolen Wednesday while he was out on a call for service, the Slidell Police Department said.

According to a spokesman for the department, the fireman parked his truck outside of St. Tammany Fire District #1 on Normandy Drive. The fireman and the other firefighters at the station were called for service between 12:50 and 1:30 p.m. The truck was gone when the unit returned.

The truck is said to be a 2006 white Ford F-250 FX4 with black running boards and chrome exhaust pipes. The truck has a unique license plate, which is a professional firefighter’s plate (#3247); however, vehicle thieves often remove license plates to avoid detection.
