PORTLAND, Ore. -- In a first-of-its-kind case in Oregon, a jury has awarded a Beaverton woman nearly a million dollars from the man who gave her herpes.
KGW News partner The Oregonian reports that the woman said she met the man through the online dating website E-harmony; after discovering she had herpes, she sued him, saying he should have told her about his condition.
The newspaper reported that a jury has awarded the woman $900,000 for pain and suffering. Similar cases have been settled out of court. This is the first time a case of this kind has gone to trial in Oregon.
