In the wake of the news that the Times-Picayune would end daily publishing to focus on digital content, locals have held rallies, advertisers have threatened and there was even suggestions that the Newhouse family sell the paper to local interests such as business magnate Tom Benson.
In a New York Times article, Steven Newhouse, chairman of Advance.net, has an answer for those who want local interests to buy the T-P: Forget it, not happening.
Campbell Robertson writes, "And he (Steven Newhouse) said that talk of local owners’ buying The Times-Picayune missed something: “We have no intention of selling no matter how much noise there is out there.”
