Arrest made in Gentilly double homicide

21-year-old Kentrell Ancar and a 17-year-old girl were killed in the December 7 shooting.

NEW ORLEANS — The NOPD Violent Offender Warrant Squad (VOWS) and the U.S. Marshals have arrested a 19-year-old man in connection to a double homicide outside a Walgreens drug store on Gentilly Boulevard and Elysian Fields Avenue on December 7.

19-year-old Grant Townsend is charged with two counts of second-degree murder. 21-year-old Kentrell Ancar and a 17-year-old girl were the victims in the shooting.

An arrest warrant for Townsend was issued and he was arrested today in the 4500 block of Louisa Street. He is being held at the Orleans Parish Justice Center.
