NEW ORLEANS -- Police are investigating an armed robbery near the foot of Canal Street during the holiday weekend.

According to an initial report by the New Orleans Police Department, it happened Saturday just after 9 a.m., in the 100 block of Canal Street.

The report said a 32-year-old man was approached by three men with handguns. The men hit the victim and demanded his property. The robbers took the victim's watch, pants, shoes, and a wallet containing cash and credit cards before running off.

Police have not released any other details at this time.
