NEW ORLEANS - A man was found shot to death near the intersection of First Street and South Claiborne Avenue Wednesday afternoon.
The NOPD said that officers responded to a call of 'shots fired' just after 3:30 p.m. Officers found the man laying on the neutral ground, suffering from several gunshot wounds. The man was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The left lane of South Claiborne Avenue was closed in the westbound direction.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will release the victim's name upon completion of an autopsy and notificaiton of family.
