Police are searching for a stolen car and the brazen armed carjacker who stole it at a red light in the middle of the afternoon.

According to NOPD, the victim stopped his car at a red light in the 6400 block of North Claiborne Avenue around 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 3. An armed man then jumped through the passenger window and forced him to drive to the corner of Buffalo Street and Curran Road at gunpoint.

Police say the two men got out of the vehicle and into a fight before the armed man took the victim's keys and fled in the vehicle. He was last seen going westbound on Curran Road.

The stolen vehicle is described as a green 2001 Toyota Camry with Louisiana License plate number 583AHR.

Police say the carjacker is a black male, about 5'7" tall with a stocky build and a low bush hairstyle. He has a brown complexion and was wearing a red and black hat, white long-sleeve shirt and dark pants. He was armed with a black, semi-automatic handgun.
