NEW ORLEANS -- Five armed robberies took place in less than 24 hours in New Orleans.

According to preliminary reports from NOPD, eight people were robbed in five separate robberies in New Orleans from Oct. 14 through the morning of Oct. 15. Four of the robberies involved a gun.

Group of armed robbers steals bike in St. Claude

The first robbery took place in the St. Claude neighborhood around 10:25 a.m. on Oct. 14.

A 32-year-old man was riding his bike in the 1100 block of Louisa Street when 2 or 3 unknown black males approached him. According to NOPD, at least one person in the group was armed with a gun and attacked the 32-year-old man, striking him several times.

The armed men then stole the victim’s bike and cash then fled in an unknown direction.

‘Known acquaintances’ pull gun on teenager

The second armed robbery occurred about four hours later in the 5100 block of Arts Street.

According to NOPD, a 19-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint by two people he knew. No other details are currently available.

Three held up in Gentilly armed robbery

Friday night, three people were robbed while in their car in Gentilly.

According to NOPD, two 25-year-old men and a 26-year-old woman were in their car in the 6000 block of Wildair Drive around 5:44 p.m. when three unknown black males surrounded their vehicle. One of the unknown males pulled out a gun and demanded the three victims’ property.

The three victims complied and the armed robbers fled the location in an unknown vehicle.

Man robbed on front porch

Early Saturday morning, two men were robbed in their Navarre home.

According to NOPD, a 47-year-old man was on his front porch in the 5400 block of Vicksburg Street around 1:30 a.m. when two unknown black males armed with handguns approached him and demanded his property.

The two armed men followed the 47-year-old man into his home, where they encountered a second man and demanded his property as well.

The two victims complied and the armed men fled the location with their property, according to police.

Bike stolen in Seventh Ward robbery

A 57-year-old man’s bike was stolen after two unidentified robbers struck him in the head with a blunt object in the Seventh Ward.

According to NOPD, two unknown black males approached the man in the 1800 block of Henriette Delille Street around 4:12 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15. One of the unidentified robbers struck him in the head with a blunt object and demanded his property.

The victim complied and the two robbers fled with the victim’s bike and other belongings.
