Police say one man is dead after a shooting on Gallier Street later Thursday night.

According to the New Orleans Police Department, the shooting happened around 9:27 p.m. near the intersection of Gallier Street and North Robertson Street.

At the scene, officers found a man lying in the street next to a four-wheeler suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the body. It is unclear whether the man was shot multiple times, police say.

“The victim was pronounced dead at the scene,” the NOPD said.

Investigators are gathering evidence to identify a motive and the persons responsible for the shooting. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name at a later time.

“No further information is available at this time,” The NOPD said.
