NEW ORLEANS -- Police are investigating a carjacking that happened early Sunday morning.

The incident happened at the corner of France and North Dorgenois streets just after 1 a.m.

An initial report from police said a 50-year-old was driving when she was hit from behind by a red SUV. The passenger exited the SUV with a plastic bag covering his hand and reportedly pointed it at the victim. Police said the woman got out of her 2005 gray Acura CSX, and the man took off in it with the red SUV following.
