NEW ORLEANS (WWL-TV) -- New Orleanians will do what they do best in a time of mourning. They will hold a second line in Will Smith's memory.
The second line that was scheduled to take place Wednesday evening and to be led by James Andrews will instead be held on Friday due to bad weather.
The three-mile route will begin at Half Moon Bar at 6 p.m. and will pause at the site where Smith was killed. From there, the route will follow Camp Street to Canal Street. The route turns onto Basin Street then Orleans Avenue where it will end at the OohPooPahDoo Bar in the Treme.
The New Orleans Saints are also planning a memorial celebration at the team’s practice facility Friday in Metairie. The celebration will be open to the public. Here are the full event details: on.wwltv.com/WillSmithVisitation
Smith was shot and killed late Saturday night after a traffic accident in the Lower Garden District. Smith was a team captain on the Saints’ Super Bowl team in 2009 and played every one of his 139 games in the NFL in New Orleans.
New Orleans will induct Smith into the Saints Hall of Fame this year, and he planned to be a coaching intern on Sean Payton‘s staff in 2016.
