Woman bringing groceries into home is fired upon; has car broken into

According to police, the victim was returning from her trip to the store and brought some of her bags inside, but left her vehicle unlocked with other grocery bags inside.

NEW ORLEANS - A woman who was bringing grocery bags inside of her home was shot at after coming upon burglars going through her car in front of her home Wednesday afternoon, according to the NOPD.

The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of Walker and General Haig.

According to police, the victim was returning from her trip to the store and brought some of her bags inside, but left her vehicle unlocked with other grocery bags inside.

As the victim returned to get more bags out of her car, she noticed that an SUV was pulled up next to her vehicle and a couple of men were inside of it going through the contents.

The victim shouted at the suspects to get out of her car, at which time one of the men fired a gun towards the home. The bullet went through a window just feet from where the woman was standing in the doorway.

The vehicle of interest bearing Louisiana license plate # ZFS111 was previously reported stolen from the 300 block of Lowerline Street on Tuesday, (March 20).
