NEW ORLEANS — The executive director of Louisiana's Republican Party was booked with battery on an officer, resisting police and criminal trespassing after he allegedly shoved a police officer who was escorting him from a business early Saturday morning.
The incident occurred in the 2000 block of St. Charles Avenue around 1:30 a.m.
Publicly available information online listed Bautsch's wedding day as Friday, according to a report in the New Orleans Advocate.
According to court records, Andrew Bautsch, 31, who serves as the executive director of the GOP in Louisiana, was asked to leave a business in the 2000 block of St. Charles Avenue by the manager of the business and an NOPD officer.
In the affidavit, an officer wrote that Bautsch was being led to the elevator but "shoved" the policeman.
Bautsch was announced as the state GOP's highest-ranking, full-time spot nearly a year ago. He manages the party's daily operations and budget and works with the state party's elected officials and candidates.
