NEW ORLEANS -- An argument between an oyster shucker and bartender at a Central Business District restaurant ended with a gun fired Monday evening, witnesses said.
The gunfire was reported about 5 p.m. at Gallier’s Restaurant & Oyster Bar in the 100 block of Carondelet Street. No one was injured.
The gunfire followed an argument, witnesses said. An employee at the restaurant said the gun was fired without warning.
“One guy pulled out a gun and he just started firing,” the employee said.
Another employee was too shaken up to even recall what happened. “I can’t speak,” she said.
Police took one man into custody a short time after the gun was fired. The employees said he was the oyster shucker. Police did not immediately identify him.
Another man was taken into custody a short time later. It wasn’t immediately clear what he did at the restaurant or why he was handcuffed and driven away.
