NEW ORLEANS -- “Why Bywater is New Orleans’ hottest neighborhood” is the headline on a recent article in Billboard, declaring the downriver neighborhood tops in the city.
But what led the music-centric magazine to that conclusion?
The article mentions an influx of artists, like Brendan Odum at Studio B, musicians including Solange and Ani DiFranco and Arcade Fire’s Win Butler either living or spending time in the neighborhood.
But longtime residents say the natives are the real crowd pleasers.
Gil Bosco is one of those longtime residents and says the area has always been popular thanks to its eclectic atmosphere.
That’s what’s attracting a younger crowd these days, residents say.
