#CaliforniaGiving: Sharing stories from the wildfires and how you can donate to help

More than 300,000 people have had to evacuate, and hundreds will spend the holidays without a home to return to.

In November 2018, devastating wildfires across the state of California left dozen of people killed, thousands left without homes and hundreds of acres burned. One of the fires, the Camp Fire in the northern part of the state is the deadliest and most destructive fire in California’s history. More than 300,000 people have had to evacuate, and hundreds will spend the holidays without a home to return to.

WWL-TV and its sister stations have teamed up with HeartThreads, a national team of storytellers who focus on positive and uplifting stories, to help those in need. HeartThreads storytellers are in California working to showcase the stories of those impacted by the fires from people to animals to entire communities. The stories will also highlight the heroes, first responders and helpers.

You can help in these ways: by sharing their stories using hashtag #CaliforniaGiving and donating whatever you can to GlobalGiving’s California Wildfire Relief Fund.
