NEW ORLEANS -- Diners at a Lakeview café were served up something extra during lunch Thursday when a car crashed through the front doors, causing minor injuries to two people.
Donna Whittington, Chateau Coffee Café’s office manager, said that the accident happened about noon.
A man who was trying to parallel park in front of the restaurant in the 100 block of Robert E. Lee Boulevard hit the gas instead of the brakes, sending the car through the glass doors, Whittington said.
One customer went to the hospital with an injured ankle, and another customer walked to a neighboring urgent care center for treatment. That person’s injuries were not serious, Whittington said.
“There’s a good angel over our café,” she said.
It was about a year-and-a-half ago when another car crashed through the walls on the other side of the restaurant.
