JEFFERSON PARISH - Once again, Mike Yenni is up to his cell phone in controversy, this time on two fronts.

First, sheriff candidate John Fortunato endorsed Yenni for re-election Sunday night. The notion of anyone, even an ally, publicly endorsing the scandalized Yenni was a bombshell. Voters haven’t forgiven Yenni for sexting a teenager several years ago, but Fortunato said he was OK with Yenni staying in office – even being re-elected.

Tuesday, Yenni was blasted again, by the parish Inspector General over his administration’s handling of a $190,000 landscaping contract at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center. The IG says Yenni and the Council, quote, “missed a clear opportunity” to get it right.

One thing is certain: Voters will have an opportunity to express their views on Yenni soon enough.
