Police are investigating a double shooting in Marrero on Sunday afternoon.

According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, the shooting happened around 3 p.m. at the 1900 block of Charleston Drive. The two victims are both males and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies say one of the victims, a 19-year-old from Westwego, was later found at a local hospital.

"He was adamant that he was shot in the 9200 block of Cindy Drive in unincorporated Westwego," Sheriff Newell Norman said. "Deputies were unable to locate any signs of a shooting incident in that area."

Normand said the second victim, a 24-year-old man from Marrero, showed up at a different medical facility suffering an apparent gunshot wound. The second victim said he was shot in the 1900 block of Charleston Drive.

"He was unable to provide additional details to deputies," Normand said.

Investigators were able to recover a number of spent shell casings on Charleston Drive.

JPSO said there are no known motives or suspects in the shooting at this time.

"Investigators will continue to determine if these victims represent two distinct incidents or are somehow related," Normand said.

Anyone with information is asked to call JPSO's Shooting Investigator Squad at 504-364-5300 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
