Pedestrian killed in crash in Terrebonne Parish, State Police say

TERREBONNE – A pedestrian was killed in a crash in Terrebonne Parish as she was walking on LA 57 on Sunday morning, Louisiana State Police say.

The crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. on the highway at Express Boulevard. State Police say 38-year-old Brooke Hyde of Houma was traveling north on LA 57 in a 2016 GMC Sierra. A pedestrian walking northbound in the northbound lane of LA 57 near the center line was struck by Hyde’s vehicle.

The pedestrian, identified as 41-year-old Jalaine Norris of Kenner, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office. Hyde was not injured and was wearing her seat belt, Louisiana State Police say.

Hyde submitted a breath test which showed no alcohol present, according to State Police. The investigation is ongoing.
