METAIRIE, La. -- A man wanted for the fatal beating of a man outside of a Metairie apartment complex was arrested and booked with second-murder and armed robbery charges.

An arrest warrants had been issued for Lorenzo Zamora, 23, of Metairie, Saturday, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. Monday, the authorities announced the arrest of Zamora.

According to the JPSO, on Oct. 16, 2016, 52 year-old David Mayes, of 6300 Riverside Drive in Metairie was discovered lying near the street near his home.

A witness told authorities Mayes had talked with a man, "when without provocation, the Hispanic male struck the victim several times with his fist, knocking him to the ground, causing him to loose consciousness."

The man left and returned with another man and robbed Mayes while he was unconscious. Later, the attacker a third time returned and began kicking Mayes.

Mayes was taken to University Hospital where he died a week later.

Homicide investigators arrested Christopher Powell, 39, of Metairie. He was booked with armed robbery.
