METAIRIE, La. — Sheriff Joseph Lopinto reports that the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that happened in Metairie on Monday.
The sheriff’s office says around 7:30 pm, deputies were dispatched to the report of gunshots in the 3600 block of Academy Drive.
Deputies on the scene found an adult male on the ground in the backyard of a home Lopinto says in the report. He was suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The sheriff’s office has not yet released the victim’s identity and is still processing evidence to determine who may be responsible for the shooting.
