COVINGTON- A boy is kicking off this holiday of thanks by giving to others.
11-year-old Jackson Sober from Covington has spent his past seven birthdays packing shoe boxes.
They are filled with toys, toiletries and clothing for needy children.
This year, friends, family and the community helped him pack 1, 111 boxes in honor of his age.
Now, these boxes are headed off to the Samaritan’s Purse organization for distribution.
“It really makes my heart happy that I'm doing something for other kids and they're getting it,” Jackson Sober said.
“It's really cool to see him inspiring other kids. That's really the goal is to get families thinking about what they can do to give back,” Kathy Sober, Jackson’s mother, said.
Jackson and his family can track the package as they arrive in places like Africa and the Philippines and they say they have even received thank you notes from some children.
