The Village of Folsom Water System has issued a boil water advisory after a water main break caused problems with the water supply.

All residents in the Village of Folsom should disinfect their water before consuming it, making ice, brushing teeth or using it in food preparation.

Residents can disinfect their water by boiling it for one minute in a clean container. The minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil.

“Because of this situation, the water produced by the water supply could be of questionable microbiological quality,” a statement from the Village of Folsom said.

The water department will rescind the boil advisory after additional water samples collected from the supply have been shown to be safe.
