Slidell mourns longtime Clearwood Jr. High teacher, football coach

SLIDELL, La. — The Slidell community is mourning after a longtime teacher and football coach died at his home last week.

Patrick Armand Jr. passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, Feb. 15. Armand was a longtime 7th-grade social studies teacher and football coach at Clearwood Jr. High School in Slidell for 20 years.

"He was a loving husband, father and grandfather," an obituary for Armand reads. "He was loved and will be missed by his students, players and co-workers."

The St. Tammany Parish School System shared photos on Facebook of notes left on lockers and his classroom door.

"What an incredible tribute to a man who impacted so many lives," the school district said.

Armand is survived by his wife Allison, mother, brother and sisters, his children, grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

A memorial service to celebrate his life has been scheduled for Saturday, March 4 at Grace Memorial Baptist Church in Slidell. Visitation will be from 10- 11 a.m. with a service starting at 11 a.m.

The family is asking for donations in his name to Athletes for Hope in lieu of flowers.
