LACOMBE, La. — After asking the public's help to find a man accused of raping a 12-year-old, authorities on the Northshore found and arrested the suspect Thursday.
The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office says 35-year-old Lee Cousin was taken into custody without incident from inside a Slidell-area business near Highway 190 and Thompson Road Thursday afternoon.
A warrant was issued for Cousin's arrest Tuesday for a felony first-degree rape charge, connected to an alleged incident earlier this month involving a 12-year-old girl being sexually abused in a Lacombe-area home.
When searching for Lee, the sheriff's office said he was believed to be under the influence of drugs and was likely still in the Lacombe area.
Lee was booked into the St. Tammany Parish jail on the rape charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. His bond for the first charge had not been set Friday morning and bond for paraphernalia was set at $1,000, records show.
Deputies say the investigation is ongoing and no additional information was available.
