NEW ORLEANS -- A man was choked and robbed in a Lyft ride Wednesday morning, according to a preliminary report from the New Orleans Police Department.

Police say the 36-year-old man was in the passenger seat of the Lyft vehicle around 3 a.m. in the 600 block of St. Louis Street when an unknown man in the back seat began choking him.

The attacker then removed the victim's watch, according to the report, and the victim got out of the vehicle.

Police did not specify if the attacker was in the vehicle the whole time, or got in the vehicle during the ride.
