Rouse's Markets will acquire all LeBlanc Food Stores, increasing their presence in the Baton Rouge area.
According to an announcement from Rouses, the transition is expected to be complete in late October, bringing the total number of Rouses Markets to 54.
"Two Louisiana families, the Rouses and LeBlancs, have each built their own successful chain of grocery stores. Now they are combining forces under one banner, Rouses Markets, to better serve the Gulf Coast," the announcement reads.
The deal has been in the works since this summer, according to a report from The Advocate. Rouses has previously acquired Sav-A-Center, Choice Supermarkets and Belle Foods stores, but this transition should be different.
"This is not a turnaround," Donny Rouse, managing partner of Rouses, told The Advocate. "None of the stores are in poor condition. The LeBlancs have done a great job operating them and they hired great team members. That makes it a little easier to go forward."
LeBlanc's Food Stores has nine stores, five which operate as Frais Marche’, Baton Rouge, Zachary, Duplessis, Gonzales, and Prairieville, and four additional locations in Donaldsonville, Hammond, Plaquemine, and Plattenville.
According to the release, all LeBlanc's employees will have to option to reamin with Rouses.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for everyone to work together and learn from one another," Rouse said. "I know LeBlanc’s associates will appreciate the level of training we offer, and the commitment we make to our team members and community.”
