HAMMOND – One of the three men arrested after a shooting at Southeastern Louisiana University was a basketball player at the university.

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office says 19-year-old Jabbar Singleton of New Orleans, 18-year-old Herbert J. Joseph Jr of Napoleonville and 19-year-old Jacoby G. Senegal of Abbeville were arrested.

Singleton was on the university's basketball team, however he has been suspended from the team indefinitely for "disciplinary reasons," according to school officials.

The shooting took place on Friday, February 23 and resulted in two student-athletes wounded. They were taken to an area hospital and both received non-life-threatening injuries.

School officials say the shooting stemmed from an argument that began off campus and then carried over to the parking lot between the university center and student housing around 3 a.m. on Friday.

The three men were each arrested on charges of carrying a firearm on school property.
