Two teenagers arrested in connection with St. Bernard's first murder of 2018

Two 16-year-olds were arrested in connection with the murder of an 18-year-old man in Meraux.

MERAUX, La. -- Two 16-year-olds were arrested in connection with the murder of an 18-year-old man in Meraux.

According to the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office, one of the 16-year-old boys was arrested for second-degree murder, the other was arrested for principal to second-degree murder.

The suspects' names were not released because they are juveniles.

The alleged murder occurred on the morning of Feb. 19, according to Sheriff James Pohlmann. Police were called to the 2700 block of Maureen Lane around 9:30 a.m. after witnesses saw a man covered in blood lying on the ground.

When deputies arrived, they found 18-year-old Justin price bleeding heavily from three stab wounds. He was taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds.

Police say Price identified the two suspects before he died. They were both arrested that same day.

Police say one of the 16-year-old's confessed to stabbing Price.

Both juveniles are being held in the St. Bernard Parish Juvenile Detention Center. Bond has not yet been set.
