Authorities closed several major intersections around the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals after a report of a suspicious package Monday morning.
Commander Nicholas Gernon said explosive detection dogs alerted investigators during a secondary sweep of the location. New Orleans Police Department's bomb robot was called to the scene to check the packages.
Gernon says neither package was a threat and the incident was "somewhat of a false alarm." The two packages will be collected and tested to determine what caused bomb detection dogs to alert.
During the investigation, authorities closed the corner of Poydras and Magazine streets as well as Camp and Girod streets.
Gernon said there were no evacuations of downtown buildings.
