Teen arrested after threats made to Martin Luther King, Jr High

NEW ORLEANS – An 18-year-old was arrested for allegedly making threats on social media against Martin Luther King Jr. High School, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

Detectives learned of a post on Instagram, a social media site, around 1 p.m. on Wednesday. Police say the post contained threatening content toward the staff and student body of the school, located at 5300 North Rocheblave Street.

Detectives were able to identify 18-year-old Janero Copelin as the individual who posted the threat. During an interview, it was learned that Copelin allegedly posted the message to intimidate a specific person who attended the school.

Copelin was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for terrorizing.
