NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Police Department is investigating another threat to a local school.
Language threatening towards the New Orleans Military and Maritime Academy was found written in the boys and girls bathroom stalls, according to a letter sent out to parents.
School officials said the threat suggested that harm would come to the school on Tuesday, March 6.
As a result, the school has arranged for an increase in security.
“We have arranged for increased police presence on-site at NOMMA next week and will implement enhanced security procedures. It is our intent to continue regular school operations during the course of the week. We will continue to investigate this matter,” part of the letter stated.
School officials say a previously scheduled lockdown drill of the school was conducted recently to “to review security procedures, best practices, and actions to take in the event of exigent circumstances.”
