'Two people in a vehicle, don't just disappear,' Family of missing friends search for answers

Hartline and his friend, 20-year-old Raegan Day were driving in Day's 2011 Dark Blue Chevy Camaro on their way to Kenner before heading to a doctor's appointment in Baton Rouge.

PEARL RIVER- Wiping her eyes, Kenner resident Stephanie Heaphy is hoping someone will come forward with information on where her son, 28-year-old Dustine Hartline could be.

"We all love him and just wish he could come home," Stephanie Heaphy said.

Hartline was last seen Thursday around noon in Pearl River, where he lives with his father.

Hartline and his friend, 20-year-old Raegan Day were driving in Day's 2011 Dark Blue Chevy Camaro on their way to Kenner before heading to a doctor's appointment in Baton Rouge.

"The last time the phone went off was shortly after I spoke with him and um, and then about 12:30, 1:00 there was no signal on the phone. And the last signal was somewhere in Slidell," Heaphy said.

"If anybody knows Dustin, they know he has a good heart," Hartline's boss, Andrew Karczewski said.

Karczewski is Hartline's boss and neighbor.

"Over the years, we've kind of been able to stick together and keep a relationship going and mutually beneficial. And now for this to happen, I'm besides myself," Karczewski said.

Since his disappearance, Dustin's father Russell Hartline has been searching everywhere for his son.

For Hartline, Dustin is all he has.

"I lost my umm my youngest son, a little over a year ago. Dustin's brother. And um of course we both took that extremely hard," Hartline said.

Hartline says losing his youngest child was one of the toughest things he could experience, now he's hoping his eldest child comes home safely.

"I fought. I fought myself so I could be there for Dustin. He's all I have. As well Raegan is an only child. Her parents are just as concerned," Hartline said.

Day's family did not want to go on camera, but they tell Eyewitness News that Day is a sweet person and that it is not like her to go this long without speaking to anyone.

Day is described as a white female, 5 foot 8 inches tall and approximately 150 pounds. She is 20 years old and has long brown hair. She has a white dove and two red flowers tattooed on upper right arm.

Hartline is a white male, 5 foot 10 inches tall and approximately 170 pounds. He has brown hair and a goatee. He has "gauges" in both earlobes and numerous tattoos.

They were driving Day's 2011 dark blue Chevrolet Camaro, Mississippi license plate PUH722.

Anyone with information about Hartline or Day's whereabouts or that may have seen or spoken to either of them since midday Thursday, is asked to call Detective Hudson at (985) 726-7848. You can also call (985) 898-2338 or 911 with information.
