NEW ORLEANS -- People in the Crescent City today took advantage of the holiday to spend time with family and friends and of course stop and reflect on what they're thankful for. One-by-one visitors and locals wrote down some of the things that make their lives complete.

"I'm thankful for peace and love," Fran Powell.

"Happiness, God's love, my family, my wife, my son Collin and being able to travel and have fun here in New Orleans," Jeff Rust said.

Some reflected on the good

"I'm thankful that I'm getting beniets," Haley Wetzel said.

"For Petey the Frenchie, Christy Krammes said.

Others thought about the bad that made them even more grateful for today.

"I think losing family over the last few years we just cherish the time we get to be together," Cynthia Coleman said.

"I'm thankful for family and friends and everything having to do with making it to the end of a tumultuous year," Jim Borack said. "I'm just happy to be here with my wife, who I love, in the most beautiful city I know."

Some focused on circumstance.

"What I've been given and the opportunity I've been given coming here from Singapore," Kork Gangly said.

"We live in such a beautiful country that we can come here and be together and be free," Cynthia Coleman said.

Many people noted the importance of family.

"I'm thankful that I'm in New Orleans spending the holiday with my mom, thank god for her, and my cousin," Evette Pierson said. "I'm very thankful."

"I'm thankful for my family and friends and my wonderful kids," Christy Krammes said.
