Two men were arrested and another is dead after they robbed the Metairie location of Jeff's Haberdashery on Wednesday morning, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office says detectives tracked the men to a home in LaPlace later Wednesday night. The suspects led deputies on a chase on I-10 in LaPlace and got into a crash with a semi-truck on the interstate. One of the men then jumped off the highway in an attempt to flee from deputies and later died at the hospital.

The owner of the store said he and another employee were inside at the time of the robbery, which occurred around 10 a.m. According to the sheriff's office, one of the men was armed with a long gun.

The sheriff's office says more information about the incident is expected to be released on Thursday.
