BATON ROUGE -- If you like in-state rivalries, and lots of home runs, Baton Rouge was the place to be Tuesday night.

Unless you were a pitcher.

LSU hosted Tulane at Alex Box Stadium. Scoreless in the top of the 3rd, Jake Willsey raked one out to left center and that one headed over the wall. The solo shot put the Green Wave on top 1-0.

And there was plenty more where that came from.

Jumping ahead to the bottom of the 4th, Tulane led 2-1 with two outs. The bases were juiced for Michael Paperski and he did not waste it. Paperski drives one out to deep left field, and this one's going to carry over the wall. It was a grand slam for Paperski off of Sam Bjorngjeld. Just like that Tigers on top, 5-2.

But Tulane was not discouraged. In the top of the 5th, it was the same score, with one on, and Lex Kaplan gets a home run bringing the score to 5-4. Antwaun Duplantis was teased all night. This one was also out of his reach.

The second bomb Zack Hess gave up on the night. But he wasn't the only one having trouble with Tulane's bats. Willsey steps up to the plate again in the 6th, and again knocks one out of the park. Touch 'em all!

A two-run shot, this one off Russell Reynolds makes it 6-5 Wave.

Tulane holds on to win this one: 7-6.
