NEW ORLEANS -- The underdog Pelicans aren't satisfied with just their first playoff win, they're flirting with their first playoff SWEEP.
The Pelicans took an unexpected 2-0 lead against the Trailblazers in Portland this week and take the series home to New Orleans Thursday night.
The world loves an underdog story and sports writers are no different. Here's what they're saying about the New Orleans Pelicans:
“…because of Holiday’s work, the Pelicans now get to take a commanding series advantage back to New Orleans.”
“Rajon Rondo appears to have found his secret playoff sauce, serving up 17 assists as an appetizer in Game 1, before finishing one helper shy of his 11th career triple double in Game 2.”
“Big Game Dame’s closing arguments for All-NBA honors came in Portland’s closing minutes. But what’s a nickname if it doesn’t ring true on the biggest stage?”
Holiday is having fun again. You could see it on the smile he flashed after throwing an alley-oop to Anthony Davis in the third quarter.
“Perhaps the most fascinating element of Holiday’s performance, though, is how many of the little, often unnoticeable things he’s done to help seal each of the victories.”
“The Pelicans are more than Anthony Davis. This is neither a joke nor an overstatement.”
