NEW ORLEANS – Pelicans players will honor the life of the late team owner Tom Benson out on the court in the Smoothie King Center on Saturday night.
The team posted on Twitter that players will wear jerseys and warmups that have a patch with Beson’s initials, “TB.”
The patches are black with gold initials and are on the players’ left sleeves.
Saturday’s game against the Houston Rockets is the first home game since Benson’s passing.
Benson passed on Thursday at the age of 90 after being hospitalized three weeks before with flu-like symptoms. Gayle Benson, his widow, is now the owner of the Pelicans and Saints, the team announced.
