Payton had taken exception to several calls during the game, including a penalty on the Saints right before halftime that negated a field goal, a roughing penalty that gave the Falcons a first down and a few other calls.
Late in the game, Payton rushed onto the field, saying he was asking for a timeout, instead he received a penalty.
