Thousands of New Orleans Saints fans want Reggie Bush to return for one of the team's most important games.

A petition was started on Monday morning has garnered more than 7,000 signatures in less than 24 hours.

The petition argues that Bush leading the team from the tunnel would be a great Christmas gift to fans and serve as motivation for the team during the important game. The letter is addressed to the New Orleans Saints organization, owner Tom Benson and General Manager Mickey Loomis.

“Reggie wants this, the fans want this, and I believe that the Saints should make this happen!” the petition states.

Bush was the second overall draft pick in the 2006 NFL Draft and plans to return to New Orleans to retire with the team that originally drafted him.

Bush will end his career with more than 9,000 yards from scrimmage. During his time in the NFL, he played with the Saints, Dolphins, Lion, 49ers and Bills.

Bush also won a Super Bowl in 2009 with the Saints. During that Super Bowl run, coach Sean Payton had Bush run onto the field against the Arizona Cardinals with a baseball bat with the words "Bring the Wood." The Saints would go on to defeat the Cardinals 45-14 in the playoff victory.
