BATON ROUGE, La. -- The Louisiana Treasury returned nearly $70,000 in unclaimed money to a Louisiana flood victim this weekend and there are millions more waiting to be claimed.

According to the Department of Treasury, a victim of the Louisian floods found nearly $70,000 in unclaimed money during a treasury event at the Mall of Louisiana this weekend.

This particular woman found more than $34,000 of her own money as well as $35,000 in cash and stock from her deceased mother's estate according to Louisiana State Treasurer John Kennedy.

"We held this event in Baton Rouge to make it easier for flood victims to search for Unclaimed Property," Kennedy said. "So many of our Louisiana families are struggling to rebuild."

The unclaimed property program has returned more than $407 million to nearly 630,000 Louisiana citizens since 1972 according to the treasury.
