NEW ORLEANS -- Several videos capture what looks like a funnel cloud forming over New Orleans.
Heavy storms are hitting the north and south shores this afternoon and one of them brought an apparent funnel cloud to New Orleans which may be connected to multiple buildings collapsing.
A series of severe thunderstorm warnings and flood warnings were issued for several parishes in the Greater New Orleans Area as a line of strong thunderstorms moved through the area.
The storms brought wind gusts greater than 60 mph along with hundreds of lightning strikes.
All severe weather warnings and watches issued by the National Weather Service have expired.
Downed trees, funnel cloud in N.O. area
There were reports of trees downed, blocking Esplanade Avenue near Marais. Parts of St. Bernard Avenue were also closed due to downed power lines.
