Chris Franklin - WWL-TV Meteorologist

Yet another record breaker today. Since Ash Wednesday, every afternoon at MSY has reached at least 80°! The record at Kenner today is 82°, Slidell is 80°. What's more amazing to me in the strength of the upper high keeping much of the SE US warm. Temps in N LA are in the low 50s...so about a 30° temperature spread from Shreveport to NOLA.The cold is being prevented from reaching our area because of the upper ridge. A 20% chance for a few showers possible today, but a better chance...50-60%...tomorrow as an upper disturbance moves in from the Gulf. Rain chance drops to 30% on Saturday with an increase to 60% Sunday as a cold front moves into the area. The front looks to not clear the coast...if at all...until Monday, so a 40-50% chance for showers on Monday morning. The front will help drop temps into the low 70s, but that's still above normal. It's possible a stronger cold front will move through by the first few days of March.
