Spike Lee: Mitch Landrieu ‘can do better than what Nagin has done’
Spike Lee is revisiting Hurricane Katrina’s impact on New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, making another documentary for HBO, a follow up to “When the Levees Break: A Requiem in Four Acts.”

La. sheriff arming volunteers to combat terrorism
The sheriff in Bossier Parish is arming 200 locals to battle terrorists, according to a report picked up by the USA Today. The weapons: shotguns, riot shields, batons and a .50-caliber machine gun. The latter will be hitched onto "The War Wagon."

NPR makes Bonerama's 'When the Levee Breaks' its Song of the Day

New albums show N.O.'s love for collaborations
Like few other cities the music scene in New Orleans is built upon collaboration, with sets featuring surprise guests, rappers hopping from one album to the other, and artists of all types jamming into the same studio.

HBO's David Simon on the focus of Treme
After the announcement last year that HBO would create a television series set in Treme in New Orleans, the collective New Orleans population gulped and feared of another K-Ville sham of a production.

Nagin tells Essence there was 'no corruption' under his watch
Gambit Weekly's blog, blogofneworleans.com, has a preview of an Essence magazine interview with Mayor Ray Nagin that has him saying there's a "concerted effort to minimize my accomplishments."

James Carville isn’t a native son of New Orleans – he was born in Georgia – but he did go to LSU and now he lives in the Crescent City as he teaches political science at Tulane.
