A 15-year-old was shot and killed in Central City near an abandoned school Friday night.

The scene of a Central City shooting where a 15-year-old was shot. He died later at the hospital.

The shooting occurred around 9:30, when the New Orleans Police Department responded to a call.  Police found the victim lying face down in the street with a gunshot wound to the face.

The teenager was transported to the hospital where he died, according to the NOPD.  His name is being withheld until the family can be notified.

Police are searching for a suspect and a motive, and Homicide Detective Michael McCleery is in charge of the investigation.
