A Slidell man has been arrested on charges of raping a three-year-old child less than a year after being arrested on charges of raping an eight-year-old child.

William Naftzger

William B. Naftzger, 33, of Slidell was arrested on the most recent charge on July 2. He was also arrested in between the two incidents on charges of molesting a five-year-old.

According to Slidell Police spokesman Kevin Foltz, the first incident involving the eight-year-old was reported to Mississippi authorities in January 2007. Foltz said it wasn’t until July 2007 that Mississippi investigators discovered the incident took place in Slidell. The case was turned over to Slidell Police, who investigated and then arrested Naftzger in September 2007.

In the second incident, Foltz said the five-year-old child made comments to a grandmother that led her to believe the child had been molested by Naftzger. Following interviews with the child conducted by the Child Advocacy Center, an arrest warrant was issued charging Naftzger with molestation of a juvenile.

The third incident was also reported by the grandmother. In this case she said conversations with her three-year-old grandchild led her to believe that child had been molested as well. Interviews by the Child Advocacy Center led to an eventual arrest warrant for aggravated rape.

Naftzger was released from jail on November 10, 2007 after posting a $100,000 bond on the initial Aggravated Rape Charge.  Following the December 20 arrested for Molestation of a Juvenile, he was released on December 26 after posting a $15,000 bond.

Naftzger will be transported to the St. Tammany Parish Jail where bond will be set.
